M&R Hotel Management today announced the appointment of Akash Nabi as general manager of the 75-room Days Inn Jamaica – JFK Airport, one of its four hotels serving John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Nabi, who joined the hotel in 2010 as a guest services agent, advanced through progressively important roles including guest services manager, director of rooms and assistant general manager. As general manager, Nabi oversees operations, sales, marketing, security, maintenance, housekeeping and accounting.
Prior to joining M&R Hotel Management, Nabi worked in the retail food business and restaurant management. He studied at the New York College of Technology and speaks Bengali and Spanish in addition to English.
“Akash’s extensive experience at the hotel, plus his proven leadership abilities, make him well suited to be general manager,” said Brian McSherry, M&R Hotel Management chief operating officer. “I am pleased to promote a longtime team member to a position of such responsibility.”
The Days Inn Jamaica – JFK Airport at 144-26 153 Court in Jamaica. New York, features guest rooms with king, queen and double beds. The select-service hotel is adjacent to two other hotels operated by M&R Hotel Management: the 129-room Holiday Inn Express New York JFK Airport Area and 88-room Best Western JFK Airport Hotel. Also nearby is M&R’s 201-room, full-service Holiday Inn New York JFK Airport Area.
In addition to the four JFK hotels, M&R Hotel Management operates two other hotels in Queens, three in Manhattan, three on Staten Island, one in the Boston suburb of Braintree, Massachusetts, and one on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten. A fourth Manhattan hotel, the Holiday Inn New York –Times Square South, is scheduled to open later this year.
